Covid-19 is not the only problem small and medium enterprises are facing in the current days, since the pandemic has posed some imperative changes for business models: teleworking has massively spread, and communication platforms and tools are peaking (e-mails, videoconferences, WhatsApp, online meetings, etc.). This situation, along with the limited protection means and cybersecurity awareness, has converted SMEs in an easy target for cybercriminals.
The Spanish National Cybersecurity Institute registered more than 130,000 cyberattacks in 2020, that is 24% more than the previous year. Freelancers and SMEs were the principal targets of these attacks. This is disturbing data, since, in Spain, they account for 99.8% of the companies, 65% of the GDP and employ 75% of the population. SMEs are the roaring engine of our economy.
Before the pandemic, 67% of SMEs did not have cybersecurity measures for logical domains. In the current days, all employers must save a bit of their budget to cybersecurity means. But… In the middle of this huge economic crisis that the virus has provoked, who would want to spend more money? However, this expense is more and more necessary every day.
In addition, we can not forget other factors: most SMEs work with transcendent and confidential information, which obliges them to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Organic Law on Data Protection.
This means that cyberattacks not only cause production damages but can also lead to legal expenses (fines or similar), since every company is liable to keep their confidential information confidential, and to know how to react and what steps to take in case of an incident or information leak.
This perfect cocktail has made them a perfect, easy target for hackers, since they are currently the weakest link of economy.
What then? Is there a solution? Can we prevent cyberattacks?
Of course we can. In Cibinar we firmly believe that with proper training, raising awareness and implementing the corresponding security measures, it is possible to minimize the risks of being attacked.
In order to do so, we have created a Cybersecurity pack only for SMEs:
-We analyse the exposure of your data: we can tell you what cybercriminals know about your company.
-We analyse the security of your domain by studying the security of all of your systems, databases, devices and networks in order to detect vulnerabilities and get rid of them.
-Compliance with regulations: we provide help and assessment on technical compliance and compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
-Training and awareness: We provide your company with training and awareness courses for your staff during which we display the most typical risks and cyber-attacks in order to teach your team how to prevent them and ruin cybercriminal’s plans.
Contact us. You are in good time, do not wait until it is too late. Be one step ahead of cybercriminals.
